Bob Gregg

Inducted into the Hall of fame in 2003

A career that began in 1938 became legendary for the Washington State driver who excelled in every type race car, and especially in the midgets.
An Oregonian who won between 50 and 100 features while capturing 10 titles (four Washington State and six Oregon State crowns) from 1947 thru 1962 competing with the likes of Alen Heath,

Shorty Templeman, Len Sutton and George Amick.

Bob was most proud of his 1962 season when he won the Washington and Oregon titles as well as becoming the only American to win the Gold Cup Canadian/American supermodified series.
His success spread beyond the Northwest when he became part of the three-car “Hardwood Door” team with Len Sutton and Shorty Templeman. Racing in the Midwest and Florida brought more opportunities and Gregg passed his rookie test at Indy in 1950. Mechanical problems prevented him from qualifying for the race. He was also won Championships in sprint cars and Supermodifieds.
He died in 2002 in Portland at age 85.
