Ralph Pratt

Inducted into the Hall of fame in 1998

 

     Pratt was the Kansas City Indoor Champion in 1940. In 1947 he won the Great Lakes Auto Racing Assn. title.
     He scored 142 victories from 1946 to 1949. (45 in 1948, 35 in 1949, 32 in 1947 and 30 in 1946).
     On May 30, 1948 Ralph won three features in one day at three differenttracks; Canfield, Columbus & Bedford, Ohio.

     Pratt was the AAA Ohio/Michigan Champion in 1948 & 1949. He also won the Fort Miami Championship in 1946 and 1947. In 1949 he won the Chicago Aphitheater indoor title.
     Ralph qualified for two Champ Car races and was the first alternate for the 1949 Indianapolis 500.
     Ralph Pratt died Dec 15. 1981. He was a boyhood hero of Roger Penske, who accepted the induction plaque on behalf of the Pratt family.
